Cedar Waxwings

Here's my rendition of a waxwing; of course it may not do them justice! These guys are voracious! They'll come and strip every berry from tree, bush, or plant; along with every available insect species. Glory!

High Water on Cache Creek

Here's the old foundation of the "White Barn" that has been undercut by the creek.

And, as you can see from this second picture taken from the "White Barn", Cache Creek has come up a little since then.

We're just hoping that the rest of the "White Barn" might survive this episode!

I snapped a photo of this little chickadee the other morning; and I found it slightly amusing how much the setting reminded me of a painting that I recently completed!

Snow Geese Arising

To my mind, an image like this of snow geese in flight silhouetted against the Sacramento valley horizon, has a kind of grandness that make you feel privileged just to witness it.

Gordon Slough Wildlife Sanctuary

This road has long been a favorite of mine. You can always expect to be surprised while venturing here. (County Road 20, near 94B - Yolo County, CA)

White Pelicans

While on a short drive the other day I spotted these white pelicans just relaxing in the sun on a slough next to the Sacramento River.

Honey Bee Weather

There is a bee hive in the side of the White Barn, but it has been very quiet for the past several weeks. The weather has been kind of miserable, however the sun came out today and the bees and I were very happy. There was even some pollen collecting going on.

Snowfall on Cache Creek

I was doing some barn restoration next to Cache Creek on this drizzly winter morning, and I was reminded of this picture of the creek, here in the valley, on a very unusual winter morning years ago.
